What is Scratch Jr?

Scratch Jr. for TK and Kindergarten

What is ScratchJr?

ScratchJr is an introductory programming language that enables young children (ages 5-7) to create their own interactive stories and games. Children snap together graphical programming blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing. Children can modify characters in the paint editor, add their own voices and sounds, even insert photos of themselves -- then use the programming blocks to make their characters come to life.

Code to The Future

Code to The Future

Workman Elementary is proud to bring Code to the Future to all Workman Elementary students in grades TK-6.

Code to the Future specializes in coding lessons geared to elementary students and offers an established curriculum, coaches for the classrooms on a rotating basis, and professional development.

Workman Elementary is one of 7 schools in the District to offer Computer Coding. District officials selected Workman, Wedgeworth, Bixby, Del Valle, Baldwin, Cedarlane Academy, and Valinda School of Academics to become Computer Science Immersion Schools.

Our students have the opportunity to learn fundamentals of Computer Coding as part of their daily curriculum. Through this 21st century literacy, students will develop critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills.

Through the partnership with Code To The Future, teachers will be able to engage students through block and text-based coding activities to enhance their education experiences through Computer Science. Our students are using Scratch, Scratch Jr., Lego Bricks, Lego We do, and Lego EV3 to learn coding. Students will have another avenue to apply problem solving, team building, and presentation skills as they collaborate and share their thinking process with peers.
